The Co-Ground Soul-cial 16’ brought together some of Melbourne’s finest soul inspired bands and DJs under the banner of having a party with purpose. Raising funds for Co-Ground’s international partnership programs and celebrating the work already completed, the almighty heavy riffing talent of The Eighty 88’s, The Cactus Channel and That Gold Street Sound literally peeled back the infamous venue’s retractable roof for a night of amazing music and entertainment. Support came from Max & Mili and Motel Diablo DJs with a full dance floor that was lit-up from when doors opened until the doors had to close. Event sponsors included Northside Records, The National Gallery of Victoria and Vintage Garage.
A Co-Ground Halloween party with a twist, the classic cult film ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ was showcased at Fitzroy’s favourite independent cinema, Long Play. A boutique event, the night was hosted by Rocky Horror themed actors, with the evening screening including audience participation, props and a tailor made deliciously frightful snack bar for the audience. Event sponsors included Provincia Foods and the night helped raise both funds and awareness for Co-Ground’s partnership programs.
A trivia night to help raise funds for victims of Cyclone Pam, Melbourne For Vanuatu brought together 200 punters to rally for much needed support through trivia, silent auctions and raffle tickets. A night fuelled by comedy, music, audience participation and games, the sold out event, like that of Party Against Pam helped solidify the first Co-Ground Partnership Program, with all funds raised used to rebuild and upgrade Sara Primary School on Epi Island, Vanuatu.
The very first Co-Ground event, Party Against Pam brought together the community of Melbourne to rally around Vanuatu and raise financial support in a time of desperate need. Melbourne’s premier live music venue and entertainment space, The Toff in Town helped host a night that featured the legendary comedy trio Tripod, the soul funk of Kylie Auldist & The Glenroy All Stars, The Cactus Channel, The Sugarcanes, Skyscraper Stan, The Ivory Elephant, The Sweets and award winning comedian as MC, Tegan Higginbotham. The sold out event had numerous sponsors including The Essendon Football Club, The Cat Empire, John Butler Trio and numerous local and international media support helping introduce Co-Ground to the wider community. A night that raised significant funds that helped kick-start the first Co-Ground Partnership Program.
